The Portella Mandrazzi divides the Nebrodi and the Peloritani, the two coastal chains of north-eastern Sicily and connects the Tyrrhenian Sea from the north with the Ionian Sea to the southeast. It is crossed by the highway 185 “Sella Mandrazzi”, whose route dates back to the last quarter of the nineteenth century, among the first public works carried out by the Kingdom of Italy in Sicily.
