From Viladrau, in Osona, the road climbs over the Montseny massif and drops to Santa Fe, in Catalonia, Spain. In 2021 the 100th Volta a Catalunya opened with a stage over the Montseny by Santa Fe, and Andreas Kron won it in Calella and took the lead.

This ride starts in Viladrau, the birthplace of Joan Sala, known as Serrallonga, one of Catalonia’s most famous bandits. The road climbs past Sant Marçal to the top below Les Agudes, then drops to Santa Fe. The chapel there was first recorded in 1231. Beside it the Barcelona publisher Ramon de Montaner built a luxury hotel from 1912 and dammed the valley to give it electricity.
