This loop crosses the Puchaczówka pass, 864 m, twice. The pass carries road 392 between Bystrzyca Klodzka and Stronie Slaskie in the Klodzko region of Lower Silesia, Poland, and separates the Krowiarki hills from the Snieznik Massif. The pass’s older Polish name, Pogonna, comes from a medieval post that kept horses for chasing fugitives. The road over it was built on the initiative of Princess Marianne of Orange, a Dutch royal who owned estates in Silesia.
From Plawnica the ride climbs through Idzików and Biala Woda to the pass, then drops to Sienna, a village founded in the 17th century around its mines and bought by Princess Marianne in 1838. Sienna is the base of the Czarna Góra ski resort, whose downhill bike trails hosted a round of the Polish Cup in 2009. The loop continues to Janowa Góra, then returns over Puchaczówka, its high point, and descends back west to Plawnica.
