Alto de la Cobertoria (East side)

The Alto de la Cobertoria, 1,179 m, crosses the Sierra del Aramo between Pola de Lena and the valley of Quirós, in Asturias, Spain. In 2021 the Vuelta a España’s stage to the Gamoniteiro took this steep road almost to the top, then turned off for the summit finish, where Miguel Ángel López won and Primoz Roglic kept the red jersey.

This ride starts in Pola de Lena and climbs through Piedracea and Armá to the pass. At the top lies a burial ground of six megaliths, used from the Neolithic until about 2000 BC. Beside the pass, at Prau Llagüezos, on the boundary between Lena and Quirós, the Fiesta del Cordero is held on the first Sunday of July.
