Mount Buffalo
Mount Buffalo is widely considered one of the most iconic cycling destinations in Australia, famous for its steady "European-style" climb and breathtaking alpine views. The ascent from the park entrance to the Mount Buffalo Chalet is a bucket-list ride for road cyclists. It is a consistent 20km climb with a manageable average gradient of roughly 5%, making it an excellent "tempo" climb where you can settle into a rhythm.
Mount Buffalo is one of the pillars of the 7 Peaks Ride challenge. This is an "at-your-own-pace" cycling challenge that traditionally runs during the alpine summer (usually from late October to April). To complete the challenge, cyclists climb the seven peaks of Victoria’s High Country and collect "stamps" for their passport (either physically or via an app/Strava).
