Blenio Valley
The Blenio Valley, affectionately known as the "Valley of the Sun" (Valle del Sole), is a dramatic alpine corridor carved by the Brenno River, stretching from the sunny lowlands of Biasca up to the historic village of Olivone. Geographically, the valley is framed by the towering peaks of the Adula Massif to the east, including the Rheinwaldhorn, which stands as the highest point in Ticino at 3,402 meters. The path mirrors the trajectory of a dismantled railway line, providing a steady pull toward the upper valley where the silhouette of the pyramid-shaped Sosto mountain dominates the skyline above Olivone. As the asphalt transitions into ancient mule tracks and forest trails, the terrain becomes a rugged playground for mountain bikers, winding between the steep flanks of peaks like Cima di Gana Bianca and Pizzo di Cassimoi.
