The road from Las Casitas climbs to Femรฉs, the village on the saddle of the Los Ajaches in the south of Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands, Spain. Femรฉs was once the main settlement of the islandโs south and had its own municipality until 1953. The road is a race climb too: the Vuelta Ciclista a Lanzarote, run by Club La Santa since 2024, used it for its time trial in 2025, when more than 600 riders from 28 countries took part.
The ride climbs from near Uga through Las Casitas to Femรฉs, then drops west past Maciot to Las Breรฑas, which around 1850 was a scatter of some thirty houses whose people lived mainly from fishing. It turns at La Hoya, just inland of the Salinas de Janubio. Begun in 1895 and worked by the Padrรณn family, they are still the largest salt pans on Lanzarote. The ride then climbs back through Las Breรฑas on the steeper side of Femรฉs and returns down to the start.
