Arcalís

 Arcalís

Arcalis has been a finish for a Vuelta and Tour stages multiple times. The first time, in 1997, Jan Ullrich won after an impressive attack. He took the yellow jersey and won that Tour. In 2016 Tom Dumoulin showed his Grand Tour potential to win an epic stage in the blistering rain. The climb itself starts with a long false flat, but the last ten kilometers are a lot harder. It can be quite windy in the switchback section above the ski station, but the grades are somewhat less steep. About one kilometer from the top, when the climb eases, there is a large artwork in the shape of a ring. At the large parking lot at the end of the climb, there is a gravel road that leads further up to the Port de Rat.
