The Dunas de Corralejo Natural Park is a stunning protected area located on the northeast coast of Fuerteventura. It is famous for its expansive golden sand dunes, which stretch over 2,600 hectares, offering a desert-like landscape with impressive views of the Atlantic Ocean. The dunes are made of fine, white sand, primarily composed of crushed marine shells and coral, creating a surreal environment. On the park’s coastline, you’ll find pristine beaches with turquoise waters, popular among sunbathers, surfers, and kitesurfers. Some well-known beaches include Playa del Moro and Playa Alzada. The park is home to unique plant species that have adapted to arid conditions, as well as birds such as falcons and partridges. However, wildlife is relatively sparse compared to other ecosystems. From the dunes and beaches, you can admire the nearby Isla de Lobos, another nature reserve, and even the neighboring island of Lanzarote on clear days.
