Hochpustertal to Lienz
Easy downhill cruising to medieval town of Lienz along Drau river, a major tributary of the Danube River. The region was populated as early as 2,200 BC, later the Celts settled here. It experienced its first major upswing after the Romans had secured the northern border along the Danube by the Limes. Hochpustertal, also known as Upper Puster Valley or Alta Pusteria, is the easternmost part of the Puster Valley. It stretches from the watershed of the Rienz and Drava rivers at Niederdorf in South Tyrol, Italy, down the Drava River to Lienz in East Tyrol, Austria. It is a popular destination for outdoor activities, offering stunning mountain landscapes, including parts of the Dolomites and the Carnic Alps.
